The Cannonball

I learned the hard way this weekend that 28 year olds should absolutely NOT do cannonballs!

This is a shot of where the "incident" occurred...but I'll be back to this in a moment.

First I have to tell you about a special someones graduation party!!

Miss Paige (Dave's little sister) graduated and is off to Morningside College with a Soccer Scholarship this fall. Congratulations Paige!!!

The day was full of so so sooo much fun with family and friends!

Someone found uncle Bret's sunglasses at the party and thought herself quite the stinker!

Clara insisted that Great Grandma try them on too! :)

There was just so much love in the air. I know that sounds a bit cheesey, okay completely cheesey, but I just LOVE big family gatherings!!

And I'm sure you can guess...someone just happened to be the "center" of the party all day! :)

Unfortunately all fun things must come to an end so after an awesome afternoon...we headed back to the hotel to rest.

The next morning, we all got some breakfast and headed down to the pool. Sadly, Dave forgot his swimsuit so he just had to watch from the side but at least then we had an official "picture takerer."

It was Clara's first real swim so at first she was a bit hesitant but very quickly started adapting and soon was splashing along with all of us! :)

Me and Paige were busy being totally "mature" - with jumping action shots

handstand competitions....

annnd then the dreaded "cannonball" idea. So, back to this picture. Seriously you guys...I have a bruise the size of the Atlantic on my...well...I'm sure you can guess where. If you can see the pool runs to the outside, so we decided to swim out there. I think I suggested we get out into the cold and them jump in (First mistake). But I'm pretty sure Paige said, "Let's do a cannonball." To which I replied "Sure!!" (Super bad second mistake). I'm not sure what I did but it felt like someone shot me in the behind with fireworks. So, anyways...while I recovered quickly, the bruise will stand as a reminder that I am in fact...too old...to do cannonballs anymore. :*(

Okay, so while I was busy apparently trying to kill myself, Uncle Bret and Clara were having a great time inside still.

We ended the morning on a great note and Clara even learned out to kick here feet back and forth when on here tummy. Such a big girl!!

I've never seen this girl so tired but this little "super star" took her greatest nap to date. Awhhh I love her so much!!

Our adventure didn't end there...it was off to grandma's farm but for now I'm going to sign off. (I can only sit for so long before I have to switch positions lol).

Clara City

I realized I haven't posted much for the grandparents lately, so that's going to change...

To.Day. :)

Just think of this post as a combination of everything Clara's been up to the past month!

She's been spending lots of time with her "bestie" Ellie. ("Ewi" - as clara calls her!):)

They "lunch" at Chic-fil-A.

They rough house at "Lil-Monkey Bizness."

And, they have tea parties with their stuffed friends while Ellie plays the blues on her new harmonica - LOL! love that! :)

But goodbye's are always the hardest - because no one likes to leave their friends.

Also, Uncle Bret came to visit a few weekends ago! Clara was more excited than that picture really shows though...she was sad we were waiting so long to eat ..and who can blame her?! (Also side note -Unfortunately ladies, he's off to the peace corp for two years so if you are interested, you will need to be ready to move to Africa! :)

There have also been many trips to the mall which normally end at the "Disney Store" in which Clara does this. :)

But most of all, we have just been having fun playing around the house as I literally thank Jesus for the gift of being home with her every.single.day.

We Have A Ghost...

...I'm just hoping he's friendly!

No, but seriously I have to tell you this weird story.

Sooooo....

About 4 days ago I went into our spare bedroom to find the lamp had been turned on. I didn't think much of it, and turned it off. The second day, the lamp was on again. I knew we never went in there so I assumed Clara had turned it on when she was playing sometime. Logical assumption.

Then, the next night me and Dave woke up in the middle of the night and saw a bright light on...sure enough a light was on in the spare bedroom. But this time...it was the actual overhead light (and I KNEW I turned it off). CREEPY! Okay, at this point Dave was starting to believe me so last night he turned the light off himself. About 11:15 at night we hear Clara sqeaking a bit so we go up to check on her, turn the corner and tinkle in our pants. The overhead light was on!!! And this time he KNEW it was off because he turned it off himself!!

So here's the thing. I do not believe in ghosts. At least I thought I didn't. I believe in Heaven & Hell and I believe in Angel's and Demons (not to be dramatic right now) but I do. And I really, really don't believe in "friendly ghosts" but how else could you explain the lights?

ANDD this gets way weirder!!

So, tonight we're telling our neighbors AKA: friends (because we truly love them all) about this situation and they tell us a lady died in this house right before we bought it, but that in itself wasn't as weird as the next thing they said. They said the very next day after she died he was clearing out all her things and hauling them to the curb. They came outside to ask what happened and he very "non-chalantly" said, "Oh, my wife died yesterday." Like that was it!! And, the even odder part was that they had all seen her alive and happy two days before!

Dave is CONVINCED now that he killed her and they were deffinitely suspicious. I guess VERY shortly after she died he had multiple girls over. And besides just being of bad taste, he was old...like 60!! My goodness...what did we get ourselves into when we bought this place?!?!?

So, if anyone wants to come over and experience this crazy phenomenon, please do. It's like Paranormal Activity over here!!!! :( EEEEEEEEEEEEEK!
