If I didn't have a head... might be a bit easier sometimes...
(I literally googled that phrase and found this pic...I thought it was fitting lol)
Now, I don't mean literally.
I do need my head....
but I mean figuratively.
Weeks like last week are much more difficult when trying to "keep your head on."
You see, it started off like any other normal week..
We all dressed up like cows and got free food from Chic-Fil-A...

(Nothing creepy about baby cows hanging from the ceiling with little parachutes on "Show your cow love day!") ;)
Some people REALLY got into it by rockin' the cow ears too...
(Yes I was randomly creeping on other tables and taking pictures).
Back to my story...
And Dave and Clara had started building what could only be considered a tortoise CASTLE...
(More on that another time)
So we were clearly having a pretty calm week wasn't....
See, I'm not sure you can tell but Corban LOVES to eat (please see below)
however sometimes his little belly isn't as cooperative.
We've discovered he has some major food allergy's which will be interesting as he gets older, but for he time being we had just hopped back to milky milk and thought everything was good!?
I'd taken him into urgent care the previous Friday because he was crying and spitting up more than normal...and they took an x-ray. He had some distension and inflammation but nothing that some gas drops couldn't help they thought. So after paying $600 to be told I need to give my son gas drops, we were on our way....;-P
Well got bad...Corban was projectile vomiting all over our house and while Lunch box enjoyed the little snacks I was starting to get really concerned.
So off to urgent care we went....again.
They took him back for another x-ray but this time they came back with a different tone...
they were sending him to Children's Mercy...immediately.
They couldn't even get the IV in he was so dehydrated...:( I felt like crying for so many reasons....1) because if there was a "worst mother of the year award" I felt like I had earned it for not realizing how sick he was, and 2) because it was like the most horrendous thing in the whole world to watch your little baby have to get poked so many times with no success and 3) Dave was on site with a client in ALABAMA and couldn't get a flight out that late at night!!
But, we thankfully made it to Children's Mercy and the vascular team finally got the IV in after numbing nearly his entire arm because I insisted if they poked him again without doing that...well let's just say Amber 'Mama bear' Guderian was wanting to come out in full force but I just kept trying to be loving also by repeating, 'Amber you keep your head on, Amber you keep your head on'...while Clara kept reminding me "Jesus gave us Corban for a reason and he knows what's happening..." Nothing like your 5 your old calming you down - sooo thankful for that sweet little girl!
So here we are waiting to talk to all the specialists....

(Clara the encourager and puffy faced, trying not to cry me)

The sleeping pumpkin after they finally got the IV in and he started feeling better.
It turns out he was suffering from an Ileus...its some sort of non-mechanical obstruction. They had originally thought his internal organs had twisted and we were going to need an emergency surgery but at some point in the night they ruled that out...THANK GOODNESS!!!
He spent 3 days in the hospital and is now on the up & up ...
Here's the little guy...single and ready to mingle ;)
So, back to my original intro....I realize his situation could have been worse and there are so many sweet kids that have different outcomes than Corban did but it does not change the fact that I literally had to rely on Jesus to "keep my head on" for every moment this past week.
Do you want to know the cool part??
That Wednesday morning, this was the passage of scripture I was learning about...
2 Timothy 4:5 "But you, keep your head in all situations..."
Not even kidding...that was the key verse in my devotional! I love how Jesus does that so much you guys I'm not even kidding. I mean I love Him even when the verse I'm studying doesn't perfectly outline what's to come that day but when it does...I just get happy tears.
I think another reason is I know...10 years ago I simply couldn't handle stressors like this. I liked to drown my sorrows and worries but this you guys....My Jesus = such a better solution!!
So to conclude, next time you want to lose your head, for any reason....small or big....remember you have another option...and that is to not lose it lol. (How's that for a deep thought lol?) ;)
Also, thank you ASHLEY BEAR for picking up Clara at 11 at night when the social service workers told me she couldn't stay overnight with us and would have to go with them...that was another wonderful moment I won't go into right now. ;)
Nighty night!
P.S. Corban has been trying to catch up on all the work he missed last week also so if you need to contact him, please give him 24 hours to respond to your emails. ;)
P.S.S. I realize this was the most hodge podged post ever with 1,000 grammatical errors and changes in thought but while I may have kept my head on during that ordeal, it is still a bit tired and not thinking as clearly as it will be next week when I catch up on sleep!! :)
